『ウイイレ2009』のイメージキャラクターがメッシ選手に決定

　KONAMIは、11月27日に発売するPS3/Xbox 360用ソフト『ワールドサッカー ウイニングイレブン2009（以下、ウイイレ2009）』のイメージキャラクターを、アルゼンチン代表のリオネル・メッシ選手に決定した。

　『ウイイレ2009』は、同社の人気サッカーゲーム『ウイイレ』シリーズの最新タイトル。今回から新たに、ヨーロッパサッカー連盟（UEFA）と正式契約し、欧州クラブチームの頂点を決める「UEFA チャンピオンズリーグ」モードを追加。大会のテーマソング「CLアンセム」や、大会公式ボールなども再現している。

　スペインのFCバルセロナに所属しているメッシ選手は、10代からアルゼンチン代表としてプレイしている若きフォワード。クラブと代表の両方で、エースストライカーとして活躍している人気選手だ。メッシ選手は、今秋から放映される予定のTV-CMをはじめ、さまざまなプロモーションに登場するという。

　また、東京ゲームショウ2008の会場で発表された通り、80GB HDD搭載PLAYSTATION3と本作の同梱版が11月27日に限定発売されることも決定した。この同梱版は「UEFAチャンピオンズリーグ」を題材としたものになる予定で、UEFA監修のパッケージデザインや特製ステッカーをデザインするという。デザインの詳細は続報をお待ちいただきたい。
