■ありえないスピード感と手に汗握る駆け引きが味わいたいなら“爽快系”（1/2）

YK3：ハードの性能が上がったおかげもあり、実車が登場して、かつクオリティの高い映像を持った作品が多く登場するようになりましたが、それでもかなりのタイトルがこの爽快系に当てはまりますよね。

フェロモン：いい意味でクルマの挙動が自由で、操作がリアル系ほど難しくなくて……ある意味アクセルとブレーキとドリフトの方法さえわかればとりあえず走れる、気持ちよく遊べる作品という感じかな？

ヒビキタケル：それでいくと、個人的にはアーケードにもあったセガの『デイトナUSA』がかなり好きだったな。BGMのノリがいいし、スピード感がメチャクチャあって、ぶつかるとクルマもベコベコになっちゃうところとか（笑）。

YK3：セガつながりだと、『セガラリーチャンピオンシップ』シリーズもけっこう遊びましたね。世界ラリー選手権（WRC）をモチーフにしているんですが、こっちは複数のクルマが同時にレースするカタチを採用するなど、いい意味で爽快さを演出してました。あと、オフロードということもあり、豪快にドリフトするとすごく気持ちいい。でも、クラッシュしてもクルマが壊れないので、思いっきり走れましたね。

ヒビキタケル：壊れないってのも、ある意味いいよね。その他にはバンダイナムコゲームスの『リッジレーサー』シリーズとかかな？

フェロモン：そうだね。『リッジレーサー』シリーズにある“ニトロ”の概念とか、若干ゲーム的な機能や演出が入っているものも爽快系と言えそうだな。

YK3：『リッジレーサー』シリーズといえば、PS、PS2、PSP、PS3とPS系ハードが出ると必ず発売されていたタイトルで、新ハードではどんな表現ができるのか最初にわかるという意味でも、毎回楽しみでしたね。登場するマシンもどこか近未来的で、いかにもゲームっぽくていいです。

ヒビキタケル：“パックマン”のマシンとか、けっこう笑えるデザインのマシンが用意されているのもよかったな。“おもしろマシン”を集めるのがまた楽しくて、やり込んじゃうんだ。

YK3：その他には、かなりリアル系に寄っているとはいえマイクロソフトの『プロジェクト ゴッサム レーシング』シリーズも、操作面で言うと爽快系ですよね。この作品は「カッコよく走る」ということがコンセプトとしてあるのも特徴です。ドリフトをしたり、ボディをこすらないように走ると芸術点みたいなポイントが入るのは斬新でしたね。
